2009 is the 400th anniversary of when Galileo first used a telescope to study the night sky - marking the beginning of modern astronomy.  This seminal event lead to the discovery of planets, moons, the solar system and a better understanding of our Universe.  The Astronomy @ the Foothill Ranch Library was part of the International Year of Astronomy world-wide coordinated activities designed to commemorate Galileo's contribution to science and astronomy in general.
